2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Fuel Economy and Engine Specs
In addition to a “torquier” drive, one of the benefits to a diesel engine is the improved fuel economy when compared with a gasoline-powered engine. When it comes to trucks, diesel engines have allowed pickups to not only be powerful but efficient as well, and that is certainly the case with the fuel economy and engine specs for the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel.
First, let’s explain the engine. It is a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel that is new for the 1500 pickup in the 2020 model year. It delivers class-leading torque with 480 lb-ft of torque as a half-ton truck and can tow up to 12,560 lbs.

Ram 1500 EcoDiesel MPG
With the 4×2 configuration, the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel boasts up to 22 city and 32 highway mpg. The 4×4 model paired with the EcoDiesel powerplant offers 21 city and 29 highway mpg. The truck has a 33-gallon fuel tank.
If you are interested in other engine options, the 1500 can deliver those too, including a mild-hybrid system. The eTorque powertrain is your next best option if you have fuel efficiency concerns, and it comes in a V6 or HEMI V8 variation. Otherwise, you can opt for the regular HEMI V8 model to optimize the pickup for power only.
There is no doubt that the Ram 1500 is delivering a new excitement to the pickup truck market here in the United States, and the truck’s EcoDiesel powertrain is just one of the reasons for that. To learn more, check out our coverage of the Ram 1500 on the Jim Cogdill Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram blog.
